What our people say about Aquila
-
I work for Aquila as a Flight Simulator Operator (FSO) on a Royal Air Force base within the U.K. The FSO simulates the role of an aircraft pilot reacting to instructions from an Air Traffic Controller, it is quite a unique role but just one example of the diversity of jobs provided by the company. I value working for Aquila due to its clearly defined principles but also because, within the capacity of my role, it’s exciting to be a part of shaping the future of military air traffic management. During my eight years with the company, I have progressed to the position of Senior Team Leader and feel both trusted and respected in my capacity as a manager.

I’ve been at Aquila for over nine years and it’s been a really rewarding place to work. There’s a strong sense of trust and support, with lots of encouragement to take ownership and be proactive, and colleagues who genuinely want you to do well and are always happy to help. Teams are friendly and collaborative, different views really matter, and Aquila truly cares about wellbeing and flexibility, always looking for ways to improve its culture. It’s professional, but friendly and down to earth — a balance I really appreciate.

What stands out most to me about working at Aquila is the people. Now in my third year here as a Commercial Manager, I can honestly say that everyone is supportive, friendly, and approachable, and they genuinely want to see you succeed. If you ever feel stuck, there’s always someone willing to help. It’s a great place to work where you feel valued and recognised for your contributions. You’re also encouraged to speak up, share ideas, and challenge others in a constructive way. There’s a real culture of openness where different perspectives are valued, and you’re never made to feel uncomfortable for contributing. Being part of the defence sector adds another level of meaning to the role. It’s motivating to know that the work we do plays a part in keeping our country safe.

Working for Aquila has been an incredibly positive experience. From day one, I felt welcomed and supported by a team that genuinely cares about each other’s success. Our culture is one of collaboration, encouragement, and pride in the work we do. What sets this organisation apart is how authentically we live our values. We are committed to everything we do, no matter how small the task. We share a sense of purpose that creates a strong, unified team spirit. And we are always looking for ways to innovate, grow, and improve I also feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such a supportive team and to have a line manager who invests time in developing and encouraging me. Their guidance and openness creates an environment where I can grow confidently, try new things, and continually develop my skills.
